Album Review: Westward’s The Empire of Deception

Empire of Deception AA

Empire of Deception AA“Please, please, please, give my work to some machine,” croons vocalist Andrew C. Marshall on “The Last Stand.”

Ain’t that the way it goes in the twenty-first century, and Westward has it all figured out on their new album The Empire of Deception.  Released on October 14, 2017, Empire features ten tracks of so-called cowboy space rock that combine just the right amount of fuzz with crystal clear vocals and hooks.

One of the band’s favorite topics is the automation of humanity; these guys must read a lot of Philip K. Dick.  Check out their video for “Force and Matter”:

The Utah trio is charming and energetic, but don’t let that fool you.  Their music foresees a time when we’ll all be finding out our new pet toad is just a robot.  Find more from Westward on Facebook, Youtube, and bandcamp.
