Album Review: Daggerplay’s Subterranean Reality

Finnish punk rockers Daggerplay have churned out something thoroughly American in their recent album Subterranean Reality.  Opening with a spaghetti-Western instrumental that’s straight out of a Blues Brothers driving scene, they offer 14 anthemic pop punk tracks with influences ranging from Social Distortion to Green Day.  Closer “Sinister Blues” gives another nod to Americana, and well, blues.

As their name and artwork suggest, Daggerplay is a band with a flair for the dramatic.  If you your enjoy pop punk with a colorful tinge of trucker music, add them to your playlist!
